Common Mistakes That Clients Before Coming Into Their Appointment
Self-Tanning
Avoid self-tanning too close to your makeup appointment, especially on the face and neck. Fresh self-tan can alter your skin tone, oxidize makeup, and create uneven patches. If you plan to self-tan, do it at least 3–5 days before your appointment so the color has time to settle evenly.
Facials
Facials should be scheduled no more than 7 days before your makeup appointment. Certain treatments can cause redness, peeling, or sensitivity that affects makeup application. Gentle, hydrating facials are best close to events, while extractions or active treatments should be done earlier.
Waxing & Hair Removal
Facial waxing, threading, or dermaplaning should be done 3–5 days before your appointment to allow the skin to calm and prevent redness or irritation under makeup.
Trying New Skincare
Avoid introducing new skincare products right before your appointment. New products can cause unexpected reactions, dryness, or breakouts that interfere with smooth makeup application. If your routine isn’t broken then don’t fix it. If you are planning of changing your skincare routine then you want to do it 6-5 months in advances for any adjustment or want to change anything part of your skincare routine.
Sun Exposure & Sunburn
Too much sun or a fresh sunburn before your appointment can cause redness, peeling, and uneven texture. Avoid heavy sun exposure and always wear SPF in the days leading up to your makeup appointment.
